Biography

James Mweu is a gifted Dancer, Photographer and Choreographer based in Nairobi.

He initially trained as a sculptor at the Museum Art Studio, Kuona Trust.   His creative expression examines the status of displacement brought about by shifting cultural and social structures.

Mweu is currently engaging with the medium of woodblock print making and in this he is creating imagery inspired by the terrain he encounters when hiking.

He has toured his dance creations under Kunja Dance Theatre to Nigeria, Germany, Tunisia, Uganda, Tanzania, Russia and Zanzibar.  He has exhibited his photography at the Goethe Institute, Nairobi and One Off Contemporary Art Galllery.
