Born in Kenya in 1983 and raised there until the age of 16, in a home where both parents were self-taught artists, Naomi completed her last two years of high school in a boarding school in France, graduating with an International Baccalaureate.
She then moved to Montreal, Canada to attend Concordia University where she completed a BA in Cultural Anthropology.
After a decade in Montreal working odd jobs in event management, photography & the service industry, Naomi continued to develop her skills as a glass painter, also adding ceramics to her portfolio, she then moved back to Kenya.
After a couple of years working in event management in Nairobi, Naomi moved to Kigali, Rwanda where she set up her Nai Designs studio and shop for 3 years.
In November 2013, while still living in Kigali, she exhibited her hand-painted glass works in Mechelen, Belgium at the Hangar311.
Returning to Kenya she continued her work with glass, ceramics, photography and collages, later added knitting to her repertoire, having learnt from her Belgian grandma.
Naomi then moved to Copenhagen, Denmark during Covid 19, in the lockdown she decided to branch off from her glass-painting and focus on her paper, ink & pencil creations. She created her own form of personal therapy, easing her struggles with anxiety, about which, through its embracement and appreciation, she continues to develop an understanding.
Having lived abroad for many years, Naomi has returned to Nairobi, settling back into life at home with her dotted & circled creations.

Once again, this self-taught artist has invested literally thousands of hours in her output. The result is an intensely beautiful and subtle show, worthy of any collection of contemporary art anywhere in the world, an impressive international product rooted in the soil of Africa.
Naomi is thrilled to be able to show her new works in her fourth solo exhibition at One Off Gallery in Nairobi.
