Artist's Statement
I was born in Nairobi in 1944, raised on a coffee farm in Kenya, and lived in Hong Kong for many years –
many of them spent honing my corporate capabilities.
A few years ago I moved back home, love being here, and more recently felt it was time to rebalance by focusing on the creative side of life. This shift has had all sorts of unexpected results - not least on my yoga practice where balancing postures have improved noticeably. Spurred on by several University experiences at Slade art school at UCL in London, I am now a full time artist.
I am passionate about supporting issues that make a difference to life in Kenya. All my proceeds from sales of all paintings shown at this exhibition will be donated to the 'Crows No More' initiative at the coast.

The House Crow is an alien invasive bird introduced to East Africa from India in 1892 by the then British Governor of Zanzibar in an attempt to control garbage in Zanzibar. Within just 15 years there was a bounty on the head of every crow and since then they have spread from Djibouti to Cape Town.
This species poses a significant threat to native wildlife, agriculture and human health and is a serious menace to small businesses and the tourist industry. To address the issue, Kenya Wildlife Service have engaged A.Rocha Kenya, a conservation organization in Watamu, to implement a targeted elimination program on the Kenya Coast using a specialist avian poison, Starlicide. This selective avicide effectively reduces House Crow populations with minimal impact on non-target species.
There are several 100,000 crows to kill and so it is a very large operation that needs significant funds to succeed.
Thank you for your support.
House Crows have already been sighted in Voi and are rapidly moving inland.
All donations will be most gratefully received.
